The Gospel Song

I love “The Gospel Song” by Bob Kauflin and Drew Jones. Unfortunately, it is a bit short for many occasions like communion. The song also omits some important aspects of the gospel such as the resurrection and sanctification. Sovereign Grace Music has received numerous requests for additions to the song, but Drew Jones (who wrote the lyrics) was aiming for simplicity and feels that an extended version would diminish that quality. Since copyright restrictions prohibit making additions to the song publicly available, I wrote two separate songs that could be sung before and after “The Gospel Song.”

The Father’s Song
Righteous God in wrath declared
Sinful man could not be spared
Before time He saw my need
By His choice I now believe

The Gospel Song
Holy God in love became
Perfect man to bear my blame
On the cross he took my sin
By his death I live again

The Spirit’s Song
Risen God in peace provides
A Comforter to sanctify
Day by day He gives me grace
Til transformed I see His face

“The Father’s Song” and “The Spirit’s Song” are my own, meaning you can do whatever you want with them. However, please realize that these songs are not additions to the Gospel Song but are separate works.
